A large part of our worship during the week is telling others about the good news of Jesus Christ. While members find opportunity through various relationships, our church trains and practices sharing the gospel. If you really want to begin growing in your Journey, learn to serve!

Community Ministry Partners

The community ministries below have been chosen to help members connect with others in south OKC.

CarePortal

website

Best For: Members who are available in the evenings, those comfortable sharing the gospel, and occassionally those with trucks or trailers to move furniture. Heavy lifting occasionally required.

About CarePortal: CarePortal is a technology platform that connects vulnerable children and families to people who have something to give. Social workers uncover the needs. CarePortal makes local churches aware, giving them a real-time opportunity to respond. First and foremost, CarePortal exists to help hurting children and families. All requests submitted through CarePortal come from caseworkers at government child welfare agencies or other child-serving organizations approved by CarePortal to vet needs.

Hope Pregnancy Center

website

Best For: Members who are available 1-4 hours weekly during regular business hours 9-5 M-F. There are opportunities for those comfortable sharing the gospel as well as those growing in their boldness. An application is required and training is mandatory for those working directly with clients.

About Hope Pregnancy Center: As a non-profit organization, Hope Pregnancy Center believes you should receive services from an organization who will not profit from your situation or decision. At Hope you’ll find a safe, confidential and caring environment to explore your choices without judgment. They can help reduce any fear or worry you are experiencing by providing Professional pregnancy testing and ultrasounds, Education on each of your options, a Caring staff and volunteers to listen as you process your options and circumstances, Referrals for additional needs and services, and Support programs to walk with you through the decision making process and beyond.

Jordan's Crossing

website

Best For: Female members or member couples consistent in church attendance on Sundays and available to offer transportation to and from Sunday morning worship. Volunteers should enjoy building relationships and relational evangelism, sharing the gospel as you get to know your Jordan's Crossing friend. Vehicle and acceptable driving record required. A car seat or booster seat needed for women with children.

Jordan's Crossing
: Jordan’s Crossing is a residential substance abuse program for women with children and/or pregnant or women who are involved in the criminal justice system. Participants learn the skills to maintain sobriety and effectively parent their children outside the structure and support of residential treatment. While in residence at Jordan's Crossing, women have access to a wide range of services, including pharmacological and health clinics; parenting, trauma, critical thinking, nutritional, and other programs; individual, family, group, and art therapy; as well as relapse prevention programs.

St. Paul's Community School

website

Best For: Members who enjoy working with children and are available during the school day M-F. Members will be required to complete a volunteer application and screening process through SPCS.

About SPCS: St. Paul’s Community School exists to help meet the need for high quality, affordable education on the south side of Oklahoma City.  It is born from the Christian conviction that the children of our neighborhoods are made in the image of God. Every boy and girl in Oklahoma City, whatever his or her socio-economic background, deserves the best education we can provide.  And all of them have the capacity to repay that provision in their adult lives, according to the various talents with which God has endowed them. St. Paul’s Community School is a private school. Tuition is determined on a sliding scale based on the family’s income. SPCS meets on the Wilmont campus.
Contact Kim Wood, our Community Ministry Director, for more information about reaching our neighborhoods with the gospel.
