The Journey Initiative...
...is a weekend workshop hosted by Wilmont Place Baptist Church to encourage Baptist church leaders and members to develop and grow in a discipleship pathway. The journey of discipleship carries the Christian from salvation throughout life and is intended to make us more like Jesus as we walk closer to Him.
Speakers and Worship
This is more than a seminar. It is an opportunity to hear from some of the finest Christian minds on the subject of discipleship and to bring the body of Christ closer in worship.
Saturday is a registration-only event. Registration grants you access to 3 breakout sessions, 2 worship events, lunch, and other services offered throughout the day. (Everyone is welcome to attend the worship events for FREE whether they have registered or not). While you are welcome to attend any breakout you desire, we have coded our Christian Disciplines track in green and our Leaders track in red.
* You do not have to choose breakouts when you register. You are welcome to attend the breakout you prefer during each breakout session. Childcare is not provided on Saturday.

About our Saturday Breakout Speakers:
Brian Baldwin
Evangelism as Personal Discipleship Brian has been serving in student ministry for 20 years. He’s currently serving as the Youth Evangelism and Missions Ministry Partner for Oklahoma Baptists. Brian is passionate about evangelism and equipping believers to biblically and effectively share the Gospel with confidence! He has spoken at all different kinds of events, large or small, traditional or modern. He holds a Master’s Degree in Youth Ministry from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. He and his wife Candace have 4 amazing kids; Mackenzie, Madison, Jonah, and Jack. |
Charlie Blount
Reading Your Bible with Purpose Charlie has served OK Baptist churches for over 20 years and currently pastors First Baptist Church of Moore. He has been used by God to lead the local church toward spiritual health and growth through discipleship, preaching, and ministering to the community. His heart is to love and shepherd the body of Christ in discipleship, growing believers to full maturity in Christ. |
Shawn Nichols
Developing a Discipleship Pathway In Your Church Shawn pastors Wilmont Place and is the host of The Journey Initiative. He has worked since 2004 in church revitalization, helping churches embrace intentional evangelism and targeted discipleship as healthy church requirements in fulfilling the Great Commission. He has pastored in Texas and Oklahoma and continues his personal pursuit of text-driven expository preaching. Preaching in the church, surrounded by other gifted members, is his passion and calling. Shawn and Tina have three grown children and have celebrated almost 3 decades of marriage. |
Ryan Redwine
Integrating Systematic Theology Into the Disciple-Making Process Ryan is Pastor of VillageBaptistOKC and has been in ministry for over 20 years as lay leader, camp counselor, student/college minister, associational missionary, and theology professor. Ryan’s greatest passion is to preach and teach the inspired, inerrant, infallible Word of God with great enthusiasm and to lead VillageBaptistOKC to have a great love for the countless lost in our OKC community and nations by sharing the gospel. Ryan is leading VillageBaptistOKC to live the disciple-making life where Jesus is King: Over Our Lives, Church, & City. |
Troy Wright
Praying Like Jesus from John 17 Troy is Pastor of Twelve Corners Baptist Church in Noble, OK and serves as a firefighter with Oklahoma City. Troy knows the pressure of juggling ministry between family, church, and career and continues to inspire community in his church and discipleship among believers. In his breakout session you'll learn that praying like Jesus provides the clarity needed in a scattered world. |
