This year we won’t have the opportunity to recognize the moms in our congregation with flowers or a special gift. What we have been able to do, however, is help honor some moms who may otherwise have gone unrecognized. These moms are living at Jordan’s Crossing, a nonprofit, residential substance use treatment program for pregnant women and women with dependent children under the age of 13 years old. Wilmont was given the opportunity to present each mom living or working at Jordan’s Crossing a beautiful long-stemmed rose, a fancy cupcake (along with cupcakes for their kiddos), and a card wishing them a Happy Mother’s Day from Wilmont Place Baptist Church. The approximately 50 moms at Jordan’s Crossing have been isolated due to the COVID pandemic, which has kept them from the rest of their families and support groups. Wilmont has been blessed with getting to be a part of these moms’ support groups during this time. So on Mother’s Day this year, honor your mom in the best way you can. That may look different this year, but I promise, she won’t mind. Also know that as we honor our own moms, as a congregation this year we’ve been able to honor the moms at Jordan’s Crossing in a way they’ve never experienced before. Let’s pray that as they enjoy their roses and cupcakes, they’ll see our desire to share the love of Christ with them.
