Christ Community Church, a church plant modeled to deploy the church into the communities, may be moving its Sunday worship to Wilmont's sanctuary on Sunday afternoons in Summer 2020. John-Mark Hart, Pastor of Christ Community Church reports, "We're very excited about the potential of sharing space with WPBC. This partnership could situate us for greatly-increased gospel witness in south OKC. It could also be a spiritual blessing to our core volunteers who serve in the community all week and need a restful place to worship God and be re-fueled by his word on Sundays." Use of the sanctuary and other Wilmont facilities will utilize the building during hours that are normally vacant to further advance the cause of Christ's kingdom. St. Paul's Community School, a southside classical Christian school, offers reduced tuition to inner city children with an intent to reach families with the gospel and develop long term community leaders. The abundant classroom space and multiple chapel options give the school room to expand and grow grade offerings each year. "We just believe there's more ministry to be done beyond Sundays," Wilmont's Pastor said. "Pouring the funds of God's people into a facility only used for a few hours on Sundays and Wednesdays does not seem like good stewardship. We are excited to hear the bustle of ministry during the week around our building and we have confidence that St. Paul's leadership is making a difference among the families in our communities." Expanding ministry partnerships is part of a revitalization strategy approved by the church in December 2019. Wilmont has been working to revitalize its 20-year decline by prioritizing doctrine, discipleship, and evangelism. Their church-approved focus on preaching, teaching, growing, and reaching has provided a thematic reminder to every group within the church of the mission ahead. Pastor Shawn summarized, "Revitalization has been difficult, as is all divine opportunities for confession and repentance. But the spirit of unity and clarity God has given our church has been worth the sacrifice." Christ Community Church and St. Paul's Community School could transition to their new space as early as Summer 2020 after Wilmont's formal church vote on May 31.
